What's Nd:yag crystal ?
2024/8/13

Neodymium doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet (Nd:YAG) is the most commonly employed solid state lasing medium for material processing applications. Nd:YAG has relatively good optical absorption and conversion efficiency, low lasing threshold and good thermal dissipation for high power operation.

ND:YAG (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet) is a crystal that is commonly used as a laser medium for solid-state lasers. The “Nd:YAG” part of the name refers to the fact that the crystal is doped with neodymium ions, which provide the energy needed for laser operation. The “YAG” part of the name stands for yttrium aluminum garnet.
The Nd:YAG laser crystal is a very efficient laser medium, and is used in a wide variety of applications, including laser cutting, laser welding, laser drilling, and laser ablation. It can also be used to generate high-power pulses of infrared light, which are used in varify  scientific and industrial applications.
It is a common laser crystal for Q-switched laser, which is the most common laser for laser tattoo removal, pigmented lesion removal, and hair removal.
Additionally, ND+3:YAG lasers are also used in medical procedures to perform thermal ablation, in which laser energy is used to destroy small tumors or other abnormal tissue.
