Description

Optical domes can be made from various materials, including zinc selenide, zinc sulfide, or germanium for visible and infrared light. For applications that only require the transmission of visible light, such as camera sensors or meteorological applications, BK7 or fused silica is a good choice. BK7 has good chemical durability and offers excellent transmission from 300 nm to 2 μm. For the ultraviolet range, UV-grade fused silica can be used. These fused silica domes can withstand high pressure and are particularly suitable for underwater applications.
