Ball Lens

A ball lens, also known as a spherical lens, is an optical component shaped as a sphere, typically made from a single piece of glass or other transparent materials. He Rui Optics' lenses are primarily used to enhance signal coupling between fibers, emitters, and detectors, and are widely employed in endoscopes, barcode scanning, as preforms for aspheric lenses, and in sensor applications. Ball lenses can focus or output parallel light, depending on the geometry of the input source. Additionally, hemispherical lenses, which are cut from ball lenses, are often used in situations that require a more compact design

The diameter of He Rui optics' ball lenses is usually small, often in the millimeter range or smaller. Common materials for ball lenses include UV-grade fused silica, sapphire, and BK7 glass. UV-grade fused silica is suitable for UV, visible, and near-infrared applications due to its low coefficient of thermal expansion, while BK7 glass, a borosilicate crown glass with a refractive index of about 1.51, is commonly used for visible light applications. Sapphire, although more expensive, offers better optical transmission properties and is suitable for UV and IR applications.
