Quartz Rod Lens

Rod lenses, also known as cylindrical lenses, are a special type of cylindrical lens that is highly polished along the circumference and ground at the ends. They exhibit optical properties similar to standard cylindrical lenses, used for beam shaping and collimating light into a line. Rod lenses play a crucial role in laser and imaging optical components and are used in applications across the UV, visible, and near-infrared spectrums.

  1. Optical Materials: He Rui Optics' Rod lenses can be made from various optical materials, including glass (such as fused quartz and BK7) and crystal materials (like YAG or silicon) for infrared optics.

  2. Diameter and Sizes: Rod lenses can have diameters ranging from a few millimeters to smaller sizes, such as micron-level cylindrical micro-lenses. Smaller rod lenses are often used as rapid axial collimators for diode bars.

  3. Focal Length: The focal length of rod lenses is defined in two ways: effective focal length and back focal length. The effective focal length is the distance from the lens center plane to the waist (focus) of the initial collimated input beam, while the back focal length is the distance from the lens surface to the focal point, which is half the diameter of the lens.
