IR Cut Filter

He Rui optics' IR cut filter, also known as an infrared cutoff filter, is an optical filter used in cameras to prevent infrared light from interfering with the image. Since the human eye cannot perceive infrared light, but the sensor elements of the camera (such as CCD or CMOS) can detect it, an IR cut filter is necessary to block infrared light to avoid color shifts or interference in the image.

IR cut filters are primarily categorized into two types: absorptive and reflective. Absorptive IR cut filters use special coated optical glass to absorb light within specific wavelengths. Reflective IR cut filters, on the other hand, utilize short-wave interference filters to reflect infrared light away.Absorptive IR cut filters have the advantage of being less sensitive to the angle of incidence, allowing for a wide bandwidth design with minimal reflection of infrared light. However, they have a less steep cutoff characteristic and may exhibit changes in their properties due to environmental conditions. Reflective IR cut filters have a very steep cutoff characteristic and can have an arbitrary set cutoff wavelength, but they are dependent on the angle of incidence and may reflect infrared light back into the optical system
